The Founder’s Message…
Last year, we celebrated our decennial jubilee. As we embark on a new decade, it seems like a great time to reflect on what we have accomplished, the journey we took to get to where we are, and the plans we have for an exciting, bright, and dynamic future. It has been my privilege and pleasure to have been a part of it all. I could not be more grateful to Madame President, Marlyn Lestage-Laforest, for her pledge to lead HANA of Hudson Valley New York and to advance our mission and vision. I am equally thankful for our members and supporters who have been most instrumental to our successes thus far.
In the New Testament (2 Peter 3:18), Apostle Peter invites us to grow in grace and knowledge. Like me, you probably have developed systems for all that you do. While systems are great in facilitating the habitual tasks, and are essential to our success, we must be careful of the inherent danger of systems. When we become too comfortable in our proverbial work, it is all too easy for our systems to slip into ruts. Ruts sap us of our graciousness and lure us into feeling content with what we think we know instead of being curious about what we have yet to learn. I invite you to be deliberate in identifying the ruts that may hinder our growth and in developing strategic plans to guide us to be better tomorrow than we were yesterday!
I believe in HANA’s limitless potential. We have grown and achieved together and we need your continued collaboration to maintain and improve our services to our communities and humanity. Let us all remain fully engaged in working together to nurture our purpose. Please use the platform that HANA has provided to pursue your passion for caring, for service and philanthropy. Let us continue to come together to exchange ideas, create long-lasting friendships, and strive for a better tomorrow. Please join us in collaborating and strengthening our purpose!!
