Bibiane Dimanche Sykes was born in the country of Haiti, to parents Raphael and Agnes Dimanche. Her father, a prominent judge in Haiti, and her mother, a dedicated elementary school teacher, instilled into Bibiane a love for education and learning. After spending her early childhood in Haiti, Bibiane immigrated to the United States in the 1980s. She completed high school and enrolled at the State University of Stony Brook in pursuance of a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Social Sciences. During her senior year of college, Bibiane met her husband at the university. The two married shortly thereafter, and began a family.

It was while at Stony Brook University that Bibiane developed an interest in nursing while working a part- time job at the university’s hospital. She began to admire the crucial role that nurses played in the lives of patients, which trigged her own passion for the profession of Nursing. Anxious to start a career in nursing, so she too could play an integral part in the lives of patients, Bibiane enrolled in a Licensed Practical Nursing Program. A couple of years later, she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education. Bibiane has started to work towards a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Bibiane has held various roles in her nursing career thus far, predominantly in the areas of community health, case management and nursing education. Currently, she is an Adjunct Professor at Mercy College and also works in quality assurance performance improvement for a leading managed long term care agency in New York City.

Bibiane is also very involved in public service, she prides herself in giving back to her community, and as a result has received several awards. She last participated in a medical mission to the southern peninsula of Haiti, following the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. She upholds memberships with Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society (STTI) and several other nursing and humanitarian organizations. She is the Co-Founder and Administrator for the Leon Dimanche Foundation, a non-profit humanitarian relief association.

Bibiane is the proud mother of four sons. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
