Florence Pierre-Pierre emigrated to the United States from Haiti at the age of 6. After completing high school, she enrolled at Pace University where she obtained a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Ms. Pierre-Pierre worked in the corporate world for a couple of years before realizing that her true passion was in Nursing. She loves to help people and particularly children. She decided to enroll in the accelerated Nursing program offered at Dominican college shortly after. Today, Ms. Pierre-Pierre works at Hackensack Hospital and has been working there over 20 years. She started in Medical/Surgical Nursing before she found her niche in the Mother Baby department.
That passion for wanting to help children also drove her to volunteer her time right after college to various youth organizations. She became President of the Haitian American Youth Organization (HAYO) which was a not for profit organization that reached out to disadvantaged children. She also hosted HAYO’s weekly television show. Ms. Pierre-Pierre became a board member for the Haitian American Cultural and Social Association (HASCO) which has been helping Haitian immigrants in the community for more than 30 years. After becoming a parent, Ms. Pierre-Pierre was also a member of the Haitian American Parent Association (HAPA) which was an organization that advocated for community children safety and well-being.
Ms. Pierre-Pierre has also been a member of the Haitian American Nurses Association of Hudson Valley, NY since its inception. She is the current President for HANA of Hudson Valley, NY. Ms. Pierre-Pierre has held other positions in HANA such as Vice President and Treasurer. She was also chair of the Gala Committee for a number of years. She brought much excitement and creativity to that role due to her love for entertainment.
She is a humanitarian who has participated in various medical and humanitarian missions including the 2010 Haiti earthquake. She has received various awards and accolades for her leadership in the community such as Nurse of the year and the Presidential award. Ms. Pierre-Pierre will continue working on her desire to make the world a safer place especially for our youth.
