REGISTERED NURSE

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Huguette attended L’ecole des Soeurs du Belair. She migrated to the United States of America where she attended John F. Kennedy High School, which was a very challenging time of her life. This meant leaving her friends, school, home, and country behind that she loved so much which was very difficult. She understood that staying back was not an option.

Huguette is a Registered Nurse with an extensive and diverse 30+ years of experience. Her qualifications include excellent nursing skills, and an upbeat positive personality. She’s committed to advocating for her patients and has a strong skill for developing working relationships with her patients and their families.

Huguette’s experience has spanned all aspects of Nursing: medical/surgical, psychiatric, chemical dependency neurology, telemetry, and oncology, which has allowed her to further branch into the role of Nursing Administration. Her personal training and experience have prepared her to make a valuable, lasting contribution to this professional organization. She received her education from various institutions which included State University of New York at Delhi’s Master Program, graduating in 2024, Dominican College’s Bachelor’s Program, graduating in 2004, and Charles Gregory School of Nursing where she received her diploma in nursing in1998.

Upon her return from the devastating earthquake mission in Haiti, Huguette joined HANA and has been a proud and active member. Huguette appreciates that HANA provides a platform for nurses to excel. HANA also believes that every nurse can serve, lead, educate and empower others towards a healthier lifestyle. Huguette previously served as co-chair of the Community Outreach Committee and as Treasurer. Since 2021 she has served as chair of the Community Outreach Committee. She currently sits on the board of directors and serves as First Vice President of HANA of Hudson Valley. Huguette is also an active member of Haitian Cultural Heritage Preservation (HCHP), an organization that spreads and nourishes Haiti’s beautiful culture and history.

Huguette’s recognitions include Nurse of the Year from the Haitian American Nurse Association of Hudson Valley in 2023, the Distinguish Award from the County of Rockland in May 2017 and the Distinguish Award from Kombit Neg Lakay in January 2017.

Huguette is an active member of Saint Joseph’s Church. Huguette enjoys traveling and classical music. Singing is a passion of hers. Huguette’s ultimate dream is to see everyone with accessible health care no matter where they live. Huguette’s faith has always kept her humbled and grounded. She believes that God’s grace is enough. Her most profound accomplishment was raising her children Derrick and Patricia.
